KMP was a simpler GUI player for the Music Player Daemon made using the Qt toolkit. It was a good choice for controlling MPD around 2005. It's homepage dissipated ages ago and with that it seized to exist.

It's a shame because it was a nice piece of software.


Music Player Daemon is a daemon which runs in the background and plays music. It can be controlled by a variety of "client" software. These are the best front-ends ordered by how good they are:

Video players: SMPlayer | mpv | VLC | GNOME Videos

discontinued: Xine | GMPlayer | MPlayer

Filesystem-oriented: Audacious
Database-oriented: Elisa | Strawberry | Exaile | GNOME Music
