Zen 3 is a AMD CPU microarchitecture for AM4 sockets scheduled to be released towards the end of 2020. It will be fabricated on a 7nm MOSFET node at Taiwanese chip fabricator TSMC. Zen 3 desktop processors marketed as Ryzen are code-named "Vermeer", server processors marketed as Epyc are code-named "Milan". Zen 3 will be the last of the Zen-series processors for AM4 sockets and DDR4 memory.
Zen 3 processors are only officially compatible with 500-series AM4 motherboards. BIOS updates for 400 series boards that allow Zen 3 processors to be used may or may not become available by motherboard vendors.
