Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Limited is the worlds most advanced semiconductor manufacturing company. Their foundries manufactures processors and other chips for global customers like Apple, Advanced Micro Devices, Nvidia, MediaTek, Marvell, Qualcomm and many others. The majority of chips found in ARM based devices (smartphones, tablets, etc) are fabricated by TSMC.

TSMC is headquartered in the Hsinchu Science Park in Hsinchu, Taiwan. It is one of Taiwans largest companies and the worlds most valuable semiconductor company.

Fabrication Technology[edit]

TSMC had a production capacity of 13 million 300 mm wafers per year in 2020. Their current process nodes range from 2 micron to 5 nanometers.


TSMC is in the process of building a estimated $19.5 billion manufacturing facility in Miaoli, Northern Taiwan, that will be capable of producing microchips on a 3nm process node. The Miaoli facility will be production-ready by 2022.
