Talk:HOWTO outline text in GIMP

I get as far as step 7, and then there seems to be a problem. I go through all the steps, but there just isn't any text outline there.

I can't get past step 2. How exactly does one "add some text"?! What buttons to press, what to click on (and exactly where is it that one should click)? This HOWTO seems to be written for people who already can make text work... please provide complete details for those of us who do not already know how to add text.

I am in the same boat as the others. Once I "grow" the text, the outline disappears. There is nothing to fill except the the white space around the letters.
