HP NC364T
The HP NC364T is a quad Gigabit network card with a PCI Express 1.0a interface. It fits in x4, x8 and x16 PCIe slots. The card has two Intel 82571EB processors with 256 KB memory connected to each and another 1 MB non-prefetchable memory. The card shows up as two network cards with two ports each.
The HP NC364T works perfectly under GNU/Linux. It's a great buy if you can get it on the cheap from re-purposed / recycled servers.
lspci
will show one card two dual-port cards:
03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82571EB/82571GB Gigabit Ethernet Controller (Copper) (rev 06) 03:00.1 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82571EB/82571GB Gigabit Ethernet Controller (Copper) (rev 06)
These cards were originally enterprise cards and were very expensive when they were launched. It is possible to get used cards from re-cycled servers real cheap.
Technical details[edit]
Do note that even though it's one quad gigabit adapter it's two dual-gigabit adapters as far as Linux is concerned. This is why the following output shows two cards.
