Vivaldi Web Browser

Vivaldi is a non-free web browser made by the Norwegians. It markets itself as a privacy-focused web browser. It is based on the Google-controlled Chromium browser but it is, unlike Chromium, not free software; it is freeware with no source code available.

A devil in the details

Vivaldi is a product from Vivaldi Technologies AS. Their "Vivaldi Browser privacy policy" document clearly states that:

"When you install Vivaldi browser (“Vivaldi”), each installation profile is assigned a unique user ID that is stored on your computer. Vivaldi will send a message using HTTPS directly to our servers located in Iceland every 24 hours containing this ID, version, cpu architecture, screen resolution and time since last message."

Vivaldi Browser privacy policy as of January 17th, 2020.

The Norwegians do not explain why they are so hell-bent on sending all kind of incriminating information about you to Iceland every single day.
