Qt 4.0 released by Trolltech

Trolltech has now chosen to release Qt 4.0 under both commercial and GPL licenses no MS Windows, Mac OS X and Linux/X11. This is the first time they have made a GPL version of QT available for Windows.

The Trolltech emplyees have made a music video to celebrate the release. You can downloadit using BitTorrent (Ogg version).

QT is the foundation of KDE, the desktop and the huge abundance of software available for it would not have been possible without the underlying QT libraries. The next generation KDE desktop, 4.0, is already under way and will be based on version 4.0 of the QT libraries.

The Opera Web Browser is based on QT.

The popular light web browser Opera is a good example of what is possible to do using the QT toolkit.

The license change now makes it possible to develop multi-platform GNU-licensed software capable of running on Linux, Windows and Mac using QT.
