More than 53 million have downloaded Firefox and it is rapidly growing in popularity thanks to the many nice features like tabbed browsing and strong privacy protection. The browser is more secure than many alternatives, but like all software, it has some flaws. Bugs are flaws are generally quicker exposed as software gains a broader user base.
The security release comes only days after the developer teams became aware of the problems, the Mozilla Foundation have again proved that they take security seriously and have the ability handle security issues professionally.
