Wikipedia now has more than half a million articles

Wikipedia, a free encyclopedia licensed under the GNU Free Documentation License, is now far big and more accurate than any commercial encyclopedia.

Wikipedia is made collaboratively by thousands of users worldwide. New articles and updates are added every hour. It is a great example of how a free license encourages users to participate and aid the growth of human collective knowledge.

Most Linux software is also licensed under a GNU license, the GNU GPL. This allows anyone to add changes and modifications to the benefit of all. Wikipedia is a prime example of how great systems based on GNU family licenses work.

The smaller, more specialized Gentoo Linux Wiki. Though it focuses on Gentoo Linux as the name implies, it also has a broad range of excellent tips who apply to all Linux distributions.
