Mozilla Firefox preview release downloaded more than 5,112,591 times

The Firefox web browser is rapidly gaining popularity. The official download count has now passed five million downloads, but this is only the tip of the iceberg because many download the browser directly from ftp mirrors and other sources who are not included in the official number.

Firefox is a popular web browser based on the Mozilla suite, but with a new slick user interface. It is available for Windows, Linux and MAC and provides a great alternative to the native browsers included in some operating systems.

A new, fancy on-the-fly search bar that allows you to search forward, backwards and also supports highlighting of all matches is among the nice features that make the browser so popular.

Another very appreciated and fancy feature is the ability to bookmark RSS feeds and get the latest headlines as dynamic bookmarks which are automatically updated when the feed changes.

Firefox will show also show a RSS icon in the lower right corner if a web-site you are visiting has a RSS feed specified in a link tag in the head part of the web-page like this:

<link rel="alternate" type="application/xml" title="RSS" href="http://linuxreviews.org/no.rss" />
